Local government bodies: seventeen entities awarded Labels for Secure Internet (LSI) in the field of IT security

In a significant step towards modern and secure administration, 17 municipalities from an unspecified organization in the Regensburg district have been awarded the LSI seal 3.0 for their IT security and digitization efforts. The project, initiated by the Regensburg Real Estate Office, has been ongoing since 2023.

The Regensburg Real Estate Office, under the leadership of Christian Schindlbeck, played a pivotal role in coordinating the project and ensuring its successful completion. The Office was tested for the implementation of the BSI basic protection profile for municipal administrations in the previous year and was found to be compliant.

The central organization by the Real Estate Office has been instrumental in achieving this feat. By managing IT operations uniformly across the administrations, many measures could be implemented centrally, eliminating the need for individual considerations by each administration. This approach supports a modern administration that is citizen-oriented, efficient, and future-oriented.

The Information Security Officer (ISB) positions of the individual administrations are jointly occupied by the Real Estate Office, further strengthening the district's IT security infrastructure.

The successful completion of the certification process was due to the cooperation of the involved municipalities and the external data protection consultancy, with Mr. Turban and Mr. Karmann of the Mein-Datenschutzberater providing valuable support during the project.

The awards ceremony took place at the Nittendorf market's meeting hall, with Finance and Home Minister Albert Füracker, LSI President Bernd Geisler, and District Administrator Tanja Schweiger presenting the certificates. District Administrator Schweiger stated that with the successful certification according to the LSI seal 3.0, the municipalities in the organization are well-positioned in terms of IT security and digitization and consistently implement the technical standards.

The municipalities that received the LSI seal 3.0 are the Administrative Community Alteglofsheim, Municipality Bernhardswald, Administrative Community Donaustauf, Administrative Community Kallmünz, Municipality Köfering, Municipality Mintraching, Market Nittendorf, Municipality Pentling, Municipality Pattendorf, Administrative Community Sünching, Municipality Tegernheim, Municipality Thalmassing, Municipality Wenzenbach, Municipality Wiesent, Administrative Community Wörth Donau, and Municipality Zeitlarn.

This achievement is a testament to the Regensburg Real Estate Office's commitment to IT security and digitization, ensuring that the district remains at the forefront of modern administration.
