Local Projects in Oberasbach Receive Over 80,000 Euro Funding From Citizens' Foundation
The Oberasbach Citizens' Foundation, a pillar of the local community, continues to fund projects that foster personal exchange across generations and support various aspects of community life. The foundation, which focuses on local initiatives, has been instrumental in projects spanning environment, culture, sports, education, and upbringing, according to Helmut Naczinsky, chairman of the foundation's board.
One of the foundation's recent initiatives includes the re-establishment of the children's gymnastics department of DJK Oberasbach. Additionally, the holiday program of the youth house "Oasis" has received support, as has an example project involving excursions for seniors with the second rickshaw "Heiner."
Another notable project is a neighbourhood bike workshop based on the principle of mutual aid. This initiative encourages community engagement and promotes a sustainable lifestyle.
The foundation's work extends beyond these examples, and it has also supported the establishment of a battery storage facility storing overproduction from a PV system near Rehdorf and Lind. The foundation is also involved in the intercommunal cooperation for updating the Integrated Rural Development Concept (ILEK) within the Kommunale Allianz Biberttal-Dillenberg.
While the exact funding amounts for the projects mentioned in the recent announcement have not been specified, it is known that projects funded by the foundation have received over 80,000 euros.
Citizens' foundations in Germany are considered independent, community-oriented actors that can support local projects efficiently. The Oberasbach Citizens' Foundation, in particular, does not replace state tasks but can fill gaps or initiate pilot projects.
Individuals can propose their own projects for funding to the foundation. Birgit Huber, chairwoman of the foundation's supervisory board, encourages both unrestricted and designated donations. The foundation is currently appealing for donations to continue its funding activities.
Large banners and a redesigned information flyer are being used to showcase the foundation's work, highlighting the impact it has on the local community. As many local foundations see their role as a complement to public engagement, especially in times of tight municipal budgets, the Oberasbach Citizens' Foundation continues to play a vital role in the town.
