Locksley Resources entrusts GreenMet for the advancement of its crucial minerals project in collaboration with U.S. government institutions.
In a significant development, Australian-based Locksley Resources has joined forces with strategic advisory group GreenMet, based in Washington DC, to advance the Mojave Critical Minerals Project in California.
The partnership aims to accelerate the development of the Mojave Project, which is uniquely positioned to align with U.S. strategic objectives around critical mineral independence and economic security. The project, located in the Mojave Desert, spans more than 250 claims and includes the historic "Desert Antimony Mine," last operational in 1937.
Nathan Lude, Chairman of Locksley, expressed his enthusiasm, stating that this partnership can significantly enhance the project's development. The Mojave Project is of particular importance due to the limited domestic antimony production in the United States, with high demand for the metal due to its essential role in defense systems, semiconductors, and metal alloys.
The engagement with GreenMet significantly boosts Locksley's ability to access U.S. government and institutional support. Drew Horn, a former top US official and recognised authority on U.S. critical minerals strategy, heads GreenMet. He is joined by Mark Green and Retired General David Barrett, both bringing extensive government, defense, and finance experience to the table.
This combination of expertise uniquely positions GreenMet to guide Locksley's U.S. government engagement. The partnership is expected to position the Mojave Project within key U.S. Government initiatives, including the Defense Production Act, Inflation Reduction Act, and Department of Energy programs.
The US agencies and institutions that could be supported through this partnership include the Department of Energy, entities involved in the Defense Production Act, and programs related to the Inflation Reduction Act. This partnership aims to leverage grants, loans, and offtake programs from these key US government initiatives to accelerate the projectβs development.
The partnership comes at a time of rising geopolitical urgency to diversify supply chains away from China, the global leader in both REE and antimony production. The U.S. Department of Energy recently announced plans to issue funding opportunities totaling one billion dollars for critical minerals and materials supply chains.
