Olandria Carthen, one of the first two islanders introduced in Love Island USA Season 7, recently hosted a solo TikTok live to share her experiences after the show ended in July.

During the live session, Carthen spoke about her life after Love Island USA and her relationship with fellow contestant Nicolas "Nic" Vansteenberghe. The strong connection between Carthen and Vansteenberghe sparked the growth of the "Nicolandria" fan base online.

Carthen's journey on Love Island USA was not without its ups and downs. She initially formed a relationship with Taylor Williams but was left without a partner again when Williams moved on during the "Stand On Business" challenge. However, Carthen was later brought back in a surprise twist by producers.

The islander, who attended Alabama A&M University, an HBCU (Historically Black College or University), chose to attend an HBCU to experience being in the majority. This aspect of her life was mentioned in promotions prior to Love Island USA airing on Peacock. During the first episode of Love Island USA, Carthen also mentioned Tuskegee University.

Carthen's HBCU experiences resonated with alumni nationwide, with many sharing their support for her on social media. The contestant, who is a first-generation college graduate, also discussed her HBCU experience during the TikTok live.

Carthen and Vansteenberghe made it to the season finale of Love Island USA, but ultimately did not win the competition. Despite this, Carthen remains optimistic about her future, stating that she will have the rest of her life to be a minority.

As for her future plans, Carthen has expressed her desire to continue using her platform to inspire and empower others, particularly those from underrepresented communities. She is also looking forward to what the future holds for her relationship with Vansteenberghe.
