Lübeck's Police Department Issues Warning for Emergency Phone Calls
In the past few days, the police departments of Lübeck, Stockelsdorf, and Bad Schwartau have been dealing with an unusual surge in incidents. Since 12:00 PM on September 2, 2025, a total of five attempted fraud cases involving shock calls have been reported.
These shock calls, which are becoming increasingly common, are characterised by fraudulent officials demanding a bail payment, typically ranging between 30,000 and 70,000 EUR. The police are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious calls without delay.
Anna Julia Meyer, the press spokesperson for the Lübeck Police Directorate, has emphasised the importance of public cooperation in combating these fraudulent activities. She can be reached at the Police Headquarters Lübeck, Press Office, via telephone at 0451-131-2015, fax at 0451-131-2019, or email at [email protected].
The recent shock calls describe a serious traffic accident involving relatives. However, no specific details about the victims or the locations of the alleged accidents have been provided. The police believe that there is a high likelihood of many more unreported shock call incidents.
Despite the increase in shock calls, no completed crimes related to these calls have been registered so far. The police are working diligently to investigate each case and apprehend the individuals responsible for these fraudulent activities.
The public is encouraged to stay informed and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. By working together, we can help ensure the safety and security of our communities.
