Luxury Accommodation: The Surrey, a Corinthia Hotel - surrounded by refined elegance
The Surrey, a grand dame hotel located on the Upper East Side of New York City, has undergone a meticulous renovation, restoring its historic splendor and solidifying its position as one of the city's premier luxury accommodations.
Originally built in 1926 as a residential hotel, The Surrey has a rich history of attracting notable figures such as Bette Davis and President John F. Kennedy. Today, it continues to draw A-listers and Met Gala-goers, with recent visitors including Zendaya, Serena Williams, and Hailey Bieber.
The hotel's prime location offers easy access to some of the city's most iconic attractions, including Central Park, the Met, the Frick Collection, and the Guggenheim. For those seeking a shopping spree, The Surrey sits on Madison Avenue, providing guests with access to one of the country's top luxury shopping scenes.
The renovation, carried out by Pembrook Capital Management and led by Martin Brudnizki, founder of MBDS, has transformed The Surrey into a serene oasis of Old World glamour. The hotel's chic, mirrored, and marble-clad lobby sets the tone for the rest of the property.
The accommodations feature more than 100 rooms, including 30 suites and 14 private residences. The design references the hotel's art deco past with wood paneling, geometric details, and soothing palettes of creamy blue, soft green, and rich terracotta. Large windows in the rooms frame views of courtyard gardens or classic Upper East Side rooftops.
Each room is equipped with soft Frette linens, walk-in wardrobes, and marble bathrooms with Antica Farmacista amenities. The four signature suites on the top floors of the hotel are designed to channel the romance of Central Park's storied bridges.
The Surrey Spa, a 2,500-square-foot self-care sanctuary created in partnership with Sisley Paris, offers treatments that blend the skincare brand's plant-based formulas with cutting-edge science. The spa features a sauna, steam room, salt relaxation room, and sensorial shower.
The hotel also debuted New York's first outpost of Casa Tua, a renowned restaurant group and private members' club, offering Italian and Mediterranean cuisine. Guests can enjoy art-driven events, curated neighborhood connections, and a private members' club.
Room rates at The Surrey start at $1,060 per night, making it a luxury experience for those seeking comfort, service, and a touch of glamour in the heart of New York City.
