Mercedes-AMG's Electric Powerhouse Breaks Records at Nardo Circuit

In a groundbreaking display of electric vehicle performance, Mercedes-AMG's Concept AMG GT XX has set a new standard at the Nardo circuit in Italy. The high-performance subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz developed this electric vehicle, which covered an astonishing 40,075 km in just 7 days, 13 hours, 24 minutes, and 7 seconds.

The Concept AMG GT XX is equipped with an 800V, liquid-cooled battery system that ensures repeatable high-output bursts and ultra-fast charging. This system, paired with three axial-flux motors delivering over 1000kW or approximately 1360hp each, propelled the vehicle to speeds over 300km/h during an eight-day endurance test.

During this test, two Concept AMG GT XX vehicles completed a total of 6354 laps, covering a staggering 5479km in a single 24-hour stint. This shattered the previous electric vehicle record by an impressive 1500km. The vehicles averaged over 5300km per day, a feat that underscores the Concept AMG GT XX's marathon stamina.

Markus Schafer, Mercedes-AMG CTO, remarked that the run was about "redefining the very standards of performance with groundbreaking technologies and innovations". Michael Schiebe, AMG boss, emphasized that future electric models from AMG will provide a genuine AMG experience with no compromises.

The Concept AMG GT XX's achievements demonstrate AMG's confidence in its ability to deliver high-performance electric vehicles. Mercedes claims that a five-minute charge on a prototype charger could add 400km of range to the Concept AMG GT XX.

George Russell, Mercedes-AMG F1 driver, noted that the axial-flux motors of the Concept AMG GT XX respond as immediately and precisely as a Formula One drivetrain, with an endurance similar to combustion engines. He believes that this technology will revolutionize the driving experience, both on the racetrack and on the road.

Despite ambient heat climbing past 35Β°C, the Concept AMG GT XX's experimental drivetrain held firm, underscoring its robustness and reliability. After eight days of non-stop driving, the two Concept AMG GT XX vehicles finished just 25km apart, a testament to their durability and consistency.

With the Concept AMG GT XX's success, Mercedes-AMG is poised to debut production models using the AMG.EA technology next year. The records-breaking run of the Concept AMG GT XX suggests that AMG's next-gen electric architecture, AMG.EA, can blend blistering speed with marathon stamina, setting a new benchmark for high-performance electric vehicles.
