Major Group Investing £15 Million to Renovate Grosvenor's Headquarter Casino in London
The Vic Casino in West London Undergoes a Major Transformation
The Vic, a renowned casino in the heart of West London, has undergone a significant transformation, marking a milestone in the UK's evolving casino scene. This modernization is a nod to The Vic's storied past and a signal that the UK's casino industry is adapting to match the pace and style of modern gaming.
The transformation, which cost £15 million, is the largest investment ever made by Grosvenor Casinos at a single site. Following recent updates to UK gambling regulations in mid-2025, The Vic now boasts two modernized casino floors, a gaming terrace, and a poker room, the latter being one of the largest in Europe.
The refurbishment also includes a new façade and entrance, an enlarged gaming terrace with a retractable roof for an improved outdoor experience, and the addition of new restaurants and an outside bar. These changes aim to elevate both the player experience and The Vic's competitive position in London's gaming scene.
The new Gambling Act Review regulations, effective from September 2025, have enabled The Vic to double its gaming machine count from 40 to 80 and introduce sports betting for the first time at this venue. These changes reflect a strategic modernization to capitalize on updated regulatory freedoms while honoring The Vic's historic reputation as one of the UK's most iconic casinos.
The updated UK gambling laws also apply to Grosvenor's properties in England and Wales, opening the door to a wider rollout of betting services. In May, Rank Group, the company behind Grosvenor Casinos, announced it would install 882 additional gaming machines across its UK sites, taking the total to 2,249.
The changes in the UK gambling laws aim to give casinos a better opportunity to compete with online gaming by offering more variety and convenience under one roof. The new regulations have also relaxed the 2:1 ratio between tables and gaming machines and allowed debit card payments directly into machines.
As the UK casino industry continues to evolve, other casino brands are also considering opportunities. Rank Group, for instance, is considering opportunities in Scotland under the new framework. A financial update for the 2024/25 year, scheduled for release on 14 August, will provide a clearer picture of how these investments and regulatory changes might impact Rank Group's growth.
In other news, Mirax Casino offers a 350% or 5BTC bonus with 150 spins for visitors, while the project at Katsubet aims to reimagine what a flagship venue can be, while preserving the heritage of a respected casino brand.
