Car Accident on A46 Highway in Düsseldorf: Two Vehicles Involved
On August 28, 2025, at 11:01 AM, a car accident occurred on the A46 highway between Erkelenz-Ost and Mönchengladbach-Wanlo exits in Düsseldorf, Germany. The accident involved a VW Golf Cabrio and an Audi Q8 RS.
According to investigations, the VW Golf Cabrio was attempting to change lanes to overtake a truck when it failed to notice the approaching Audi Q8 RS. The impact with the Audi caused the Golf Cabrio to spin to the right into the median and collide head-on with a tree.
The driver of the Audi Q8 RS, a 22-year-old man from Belgium, was attempting to swerve left to avoid the collision but collided with the median barrier before hitting the Golf Cabrio.
The driver of the Golf Cabrio, a 30-year-old man from Wegberg, was ejected from his vehicle and taken to a hospital for treatment.
The accident site is still under investigation, and an accident investigation team has secured the area. Traffic was rerouted past the scene on the left lane, and the A46 in the direction of Brilon was partially closed for rescue and recovery operations.
