Majority of Romans Report Economic Changes Impacting Their Lifestyles, According to Study

A new survey conducted online from August 14-20, 2025, has revealed that the economic conditions in Romania are affecting the daily lives of a significant majority of its urban internet users. The study, which surveyed 1,058 individuals aged 18 and above, has shed light on various concerns and challenges faced by Romanians.

The survey found that 84% of Romanians have experienced changes in their daily lives due to economic conditions. The study focused on urban internet users only and did not provide information about the demographic distribution of the participants.

Young people aged 18-34 appear to be particularly affected, with 20% citing a lack of job or promotion prospects as their main obstacle. Rising living costs are the primary concern for 51% of Romanians, followed by high taxes and duties (20%), and postponing major investments (41%).

In response to these challenges, 49% of Romanians have reduced their everyday spending, while 38% have cancelled vacations and leisure activities. A worrying 41% believe conditions will not improve over the next 12 months and may continue to deteriorate.

Despite these pessimistic views, 23% of Romanians show determination to find solutions to their financial challenges. Moderate optimism about the economy's recovery is expressed by 45% of Romanians, expecting the process to take more than a year.

Lack of future predictability is a concern for 18% of Romanians, and 24% report feelings of insecurity. The study did not indicate whether the optimistic or pessimistic views are more prevalent among different demographic groups.

The survey did not specify the source of the participants or provide any comparison or contrast with previous surveys or data. It also did not address the concerns or expectations of those aged 35 and above, nor did it mention any specific economic factors influencing the outlook other than the recovery process and the next 12 months.

In conclusion, the survey reveals a challenging economic landscape for Romanians, with rising living costs, job insecurity, and financial pressures being the main concerns. However, a significant portion of the population remains hopeful and determined to find solutions to these challenges.
