Mamdani appears to cast doubt on Eric Adams' recent scandals in a new video, stating cryptically, 'I too have something to conceal.'
In the bustling city of New York, a series of unexpected events has kept the city's residents and media buzzing.
Last Sunday, a shocking allegation was made against Winnie Greco, a former aide to Mayor Eric Adams. According to reports by news outlet THE CITY, Greco was accused of trying to hand a reporter a wad of cash hidden inside a bag of potato chips, specifically Herr's Sour Cream & Onion ripple chips.
On the same day, a group of Adams' associates were indicted in their own alleged bribery scandal. The Manhattan District Attorney's Office announced indictments against several individuals, including a former top adviser, his son, two political donors, and local business owners. The indictments allege a pay-to-play scheme and other charges.
New York City mayoral candidate Andrew Cuomo is discussing his bid for leadership, but the spotlight has been on another candidate, Zohran Mamdani, a self-described democratic socialist. Mamdani, the nominee for New York City mayor, recently announced a scavenger hunt across the city. The potato chips brand used in his scavenger hunt video is, interestingly, the same as in the Greco case – Herr's Sour Cream & Onion ripple chips.
The video released by Mamdani's campaign appears to take aim at Mayor Eric Adams, with the scavenger hunt's clues tied to the city's history. Participants will solve a series of clues, with the scavenger hunt beginning at 2 p.m. on Sunday. The scavenger hunt will lead to a surprise at the final stop.
Meanwhile, Mamdani's campaign spokesperson, Dora Pekec, has criticized Mayor Adams for focusing on corruption charges instead of helping New Yorkers afford the city's high cost of living. New York Mayor Eric Adams did not immediately respond to our website Digital's request for comment regarding the indictments.
