Manchester City Defender Akanji's Future in Doubt as Multiple Clubs Show Interest

Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji's move to Turkey's Galatasaray appears to be in jeopardy, with Italian side AC Milan showing a late interest in the Swiss international.

According to reports, Galatasaray had agreed personal terms with Akanji and were on the brink of finalising a deal with Manchester City's hierarchy. However, Akanji's reported pause in his move to Turkey could be due to Milan's interest.

The versatile defender, who can play all across the back-line, has won numerous trophies during his time in England, including the Premier League twice, the Champions League, the FA Cup, the UEFA Super Cup, and the Club World Cup.

Pep Guardiola, Manchester City's boss, is undergoing a major squad re-shuffle at Eastlands this summer. Key player Kevin De Bruyne has already moved on, and Guardiola has shown a willingness to be ruthless in his squad re-shuffle. It remains to be seen whether Akanji is part of Guardiola's plans going forward.

In addition to Milan and Galatasaray, Akanji is also garnering interest in England. Crystal Palace are reportedly looking for a replacement for Marc Guehi, and rumours suggest that Akanji could be a potential target for the London club.

The report suggests that Akanji is the preferred option for Milan after they contacted Bayern Munich over the availability of Kim Min-Jae. However, the move does not make a lot of sense, according to some analysts, as Guardiola's decisions are not always easy to predict.

Transfermarkt values Akanji at €28 million, and recent interest in signing him has come mainly from Galatasaray Istanbul and Bayer Leverkusen. However, Akanji himself has reportedly denied knowledge of the transfer talks, and no final agreement with the player has been reached yet.

As the transfer window approaches its close, the future of Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji remains uncertain, with multiple clubs vying for his signature.
