Traceless Secures Second Place in Future Hamburg Awards and Announces Plans for Large-Scale Production

Traceless, a Hamburg-based biotech startup, has made significant strides in the sustainable plastic industry. The company recently secured second place in the Future Hamburg Awards in 2021, recognised for its innovative and eco-friendly concept.

Traceless is now gearing up for regular market entry with its large-scale production plant, which is expected to be operational and ready for market entry by 2025. The company has chosen the Großmoorbogen in Hamburg-Harburg as its first production site for plant-based plastic alternatives.

The startup has received funding in the millions, most recently from the Federal Ministry for the Environment. The third major investor financially supporting Traceless for production of plastic alternatives is the UB Forest Industry Green Growth Fund, alongside SWEN Blue Ocean as co-investors in the €36.6 million funding round.

Traceless plans to produce several thousand tons of its plastic alternative annually by 2025 and has initial supply contracts with European companies. One of these companies is the Otto Group, which has signed on as a pilot customer, supporting the retailer in making its packaging more environmentally friendly.

Another Hamburg-based startup, Wildplastic, is also involved in this venture with Traceless. The two companies will be working together to create a more sustainable future in the plastic industry.

Traceless is taking over the building of the traditional Backhaus Wedemann, opting for sustainable construction in an existing building. Co-founder Anne Lamp stated that the new location is a stroke of luck and underscores their commitment to sustainable business practices.

Traceless was a finalist in the Future Hamburg Awards in 2021, further demonstrating the company's potential and dedication to creating a more sustainable world. The company's innovative approach to plastic production is expected to make a significant impact in the fight against plastic waste.
