Marburg Launches 'Ehrenamtscard' to Honor Volunteers
Marburg's volunteers can now apply for the 'Common App', a recognition of their service. The 'Common App' offers various discounts and perks across the city and state of Hesse.
To qualify, volunteers must have served for at least three years, dedicating a minimum of five hours weekly. However, holders of the 'Jugendleitercard' have different eligibility criteria. The 'Common App' is valid for three years and can be renewed.
Cardholders enjoy numerous benefits, such as free or reduced entry to events, leisure pools, football games, and discounts at OBI stores. They also get fee reductions for courses at Volkshochschulen and reduced prices for visits to the Botanical Garden or Cineplex Cinema. Additionally, subscribers to the University Town of Marburg's newsletter receive regular updates on city news and life.
Applications are open until 15 October 2025. Engaged individuals living in Marburg can apply through the city, while those from the district can apply through the Fachdienst Partizipation, Ehrenamt und Sport. The next presentation event is scheduled for 4 December 2025. Over 20,000 individuals in Hesse already enjoy the 'Common Card', with over 1,700 discounts available statewide, including regular special actions and prize draws.
The 'Common App' is a testament to the dedication of Marburg's volunteers. With its numerous benefits, it not only recognizes their service but also enhances their experience in the city. Applications are open, and interested volunteers are encouraged to apply.
