"Marc Soler surprises with another stage victory at Vuelta a España, boosting UAE Team Emirates-XRG's impressive tally"

In an unexpected turn of events at the ongoing Vuelta a España 2025, Marc Soler of UAE Team Emirates-XRG claimed a solo win at the challenging summit finish of La Farrapona. This marked Soler's fourth stage victory in the prestigious race.

Soler's triumph came under unusual circumstances as he initially found himself in the break of the day by accident. The wind in the valley of La Farrapona played a significant role in his solo win, allowing him to break away from the pack 16km from the line.

The Spanish rider's win was a revenge for his defeat by David Gaudu (Groupama-FDJ) in the same summit finish in 2020. Soler's victory also served as a birthday present for his wife, Judit, as the race took place on her special day.

Despite UAE Team Emirates-XRG previously winning six stages in the Vuelta a España, Soler's win was an unexpected success for both the rider and the team. Soler's teammate, João Almeida, the team leader, did not make an expected attack during the stage. Almeida's attack never materialized, and a 48-second gap separates him and his main rival, Jonas Vingegaard, overall.

Soler, initially cautious, expected an attack from Almeida but maintained an advantage. The circumstances of the stage worked out in a way that Soler was able to continue to the line alone. If given the chance, Soler is likely to take advantage of any opportunities to shine in races.

Following his victory at La Farrapona, Soler's next role will be to work for Juan Ayuso in the World Championships. The specifics of Soler's participation in the World Championships are subject to confirmation by national trainer Alejandro Valverde.
