Marquez dominates MotoGP Hungary sprint race, securing a significant lead
In the thrilling Sprint race of the MotoGP World Championship in Hungary, Marc Marquez once again demonstrated his dominance, securing his 13th victory in 14 Saturday races this year.
Starting from pole position, Marquez maintained his lead at the first corner and felt comfortable on his bike throughout the race. His best result for Honda, a 4th place finish, was achieved by Luca Marini, who finished behind him.
Fermin Aldeguer, Jorge Martin, and Alex Marquez completed the top six, with Martin scoring points despite finishing behind his brother, Alex. Enea Bastianini's race ended prematurely at the first corner due to an incident involving Quartararo, who also crashed at the same corner, pushing Bastianini off track.
The incident resulted in both Quartararo and Bastianini not finishing the sprint race (DNF) and being penalised for incidents during the sprint. Their exact championship positions immediately following the sprint are not specified in the results.
Franco Morbidelli finished third, joking that he could see Marquez during the race. Marco Bezzecchi finished seventh, with Fabio Di Giannantonio, who had a disappointing Friday, surprising everyone by finishing second.
Johann Zarco was involved in an incident at the first corner that ended his race. Meanwhile, Acosta went down at the Sprint race but managed to remount and finish 17th.
The victory extends Marquez's lead in the championship to 152 points, leaving his competitors playing catch-up in the remaining races of the season. The MotoGP World Championship continues with the next race scheduled in Spain.
