Typhoon Kajiki Brings Evacuations and Flight Cancellations Across Asia

Typhoon Kajiki, a powerful storm with windspeeds of 175 kilometers per hour (109 miles per hour), is causing disruptions across several regions in Asia. The typhoon is expected to make landfall on China's Hainan island, prompting evacuations and flight cancellations.

In the resort city of Sanya on Hainan island, over 20,000 people have been ordered to evacuate due to the approaching typhoon. To ensure safety, the city has closed tourist attractions, schools, shops, office buildings, and public transport systems. The storm's heavy rains are expected to cause flooding, leading to the closure of stores, office buildings, and schools.

Public transportation has also been suspended in Sanya, and over 150,000 households in the affected provinces have been ordered to seek shelter inland. The typhoon is set to sweep past Hainan island, potentially causing significant damage.

In Vietnam, authorities are preparing to evacuate over 500,000 people from four central coastal provinces: Thanh Hoa, Quang Tri, Hue, and Danang. Vietnamese carriers Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet have canceled flights due to the anticipated weather conditions.

Typhoon Kajiki is currently traveling across the South China Sea and is expected to bring heavy rains and strong winds to the affected areas. Residents are urged to follow evacuation orders and stay safe as the typhoon approaches.
