The past few days have seen a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, with the largest air attacks since the war began being reported. According to recent reports, the Russian air force launched a massive coordinated attack using over 500 drones and dozens of rockets, targeting multiple locations in Ukraine, including the capital city of Kyiv.

The attack resulted in casualties, with several people killed, and damage to several high-rise buildings and the government headquarters in Kyiv, which caught fire during the air strike. President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine expressed his hope for a decisive US response, stating that Ukraine needs a comprehensive reaction from its partners.

In response to these developments, US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin stated that the US government is ready to increase pressure on Russia. Mnuchin suggested that the EU should also join in imposing further sanctions and tariffs against countries buying Russian oil. If these sanctions and tariffs are agreed upon, Mnuchin predicts that Russia's economy will collapse, which he believes will bring Russian President Vladimir Putin to the negotiating table.

President Donald Trump has also reaffirmed his readiness for further sanctions against Russia. His statement was made outside the White House on Sunday. Meanwhile, President Zelensky has specifically mentioned a strong American response as what Ukraine needs.

The air strike is not the only point of contention between the two nations. At least 810 drones and a dozen missiles were used in the Russian attack, raising concerns about the escalating violence.

As the situation continues to unfold, it is clear that the international community is watching closely, with many calling for a united front against Russia's aggression. The future of Ukraine and its relationship with Russia remain uncertain, but one thing is clear: the need for a peaceful resolution to this conflict is more important than ever.
