MasterChef's 2025 Debut: Revealed Date and Latest Updates

After a brief hiatus, the popular cooking competition show, MasterChef, is set to return for its 21st year on BBC One. The new series, MasterChef 2025, is scheduled to air on August 6, with the first three episodes available on iPlayer.

In this edition, over fifty hopefuls from across the UK will compete for the coveted title, inspired by a variety of influences, including Brin Pirathapan, a veterinary surgeon who was crowned the winner of MasterChef 2024, and his Sri Lankan heritage.

The first challenge facing the contestants is called 'Basic To Brilliant', a challenge described by presenter John Torode as a task where contestants turn an everyday item into something special. Another new challenge in MasterChef 2025 is part of the Invention Test and requires contestants to think on their feet, creating different dishes from a given basic recipe.

Despite recent allegations, both John Torode and Gregg Wallace will appear in MasterChef 2025. However, it's unclear how much of either presenter we will see on screen. The BBC has decided to air MasterChef 2025 after consultation with the contestants.

The new series was filmed in early 2024, but the remarks John Torode is accused of were allegedly made in 2018 or 2019. The BBC has not yet commented on these allegations.

In a surprising turn of events, 45 out of 83 allegations about Gregg Wallace's behavior on MasterChef were upheld. Following these allegations, Gregg Wallace was sacked from his role as a presenter of MasterChef.

Grace Dent, who presented Celebrity MasterChef alongside John Torode in 2024 and 2025, has been linked to MasterChef 2025. The guest judges for this series have not been publicly announced yet.

The new series will continue to air on BBC One, with Episode 2 airing on August 7 and Episode 3 on August 8. As of now, there isn't a trailer for MasterChef 2025, but one may be released by the BBC soon.
