Matches Schedule for Walker Cup Day 2: Foursomes and Singles Matches
The 50th Walker Cup is being held at Cypress Point, with the competition consisting of morning foursomes and afternoon singles. The singles matches will start at 4.30pm ET on Sunday, and the US needs 7 more points to retain the Walker Cup for a fifth straight event.
In the foursomes matches, Team GB&I took an early 3-1 lead. The first three matches were won by the GB&I team with scores of 3&1, 3&2, and 1-up, while the US side managed to win 5.5 points from a possible 8.
The foursomes matches will begin at 11.00am ET on Sunday. Some of the notable matches include the one between Cameron Adam and Niall Shiels Donegan, and Michael La Sasso and Jase Summy, starting at 11.45am/4.45pm ET. Another interesting match is the one between Connor Graham and Tyler Weaver, and Jackson Koivun and Tommy Morrison, starting at 11.00am/4.00pm ET.
As the competition moves into the singles phase, the GB&I team currently has a lead of 3-1 in the foursomes matches and 4.5-7.5 in the overall competition. In the singles matches so far, Niall Shiels Donegan, Connor Graham, and Stuart Grehan were the only players to score for Team GB&I, while the US side took 5.5 points.
The singles match between Niall Shiels Donegan and Tommy Morrison will start at 4.40pm/9.40pm, followed by the one between Cameron Adam and Jase Summy at 5.50pm/10.50pm. The match between Eliot Baker and Stewart Hagestad will start at 5.30pm/10.30pm, and Stuart Grehan will face Ethan Fang at 5.20pm/10.20pm.
Meanwhile, the US side will rely on players like Luke Poulter, Preston Stout, and Gavin Tiernan, who will be in action in the singles matches. The singles match between Connor Graham and Mason Howell will start at 5.00pm/10.00pm, followed by the one between Luke Poulter and Preston Stout at 5.10pm/10.10pm. The final singles match of the day will be between Charlie Forster and Ben James, starting at 5.40pm/10.40pm, and Tyler Weaver and Jackson Koivun at 4.30pm/9.30pm.
