In a significant development for McLaren enthusiasts in North America, a new service centre dedicated to the iconic McLaren F1 has opened in Pennsylvania. Operated by McLaren Philadelphia, this centre is set to revolutionise the servicing and restoration of these rare supercars.

The location of the service centre is strategically remote, ensuring discretion and privacy for the exclusive clientele it serves. This is particularly important for the McLaren F1, one of the rarest supercars in existence, with only 64 original road cars produced.

The McLaren F1, despite the arrival of the McLaren P1, remains a coveted collectible. Servicing the F1 isn't a cheap endeavour, often requiring almost a strip-down and track time. However, the new service centre in Pennsylvania is equipped with McLaren-trained F1 specialists and all the original tools required for the task.

As for the McLaren P1, it was previously considered the spiritual successor to the McLaren F1. But the spotlight has now shifted to the McLaren Speedtail, a new supercar that boasts a top speed of 250mph, surpassing the 240mph speed of the 27-year old McLaren F1.

The McLaren Speedtail's top speed was achieved in a series of 30 runs at the Kennedy Space Centre, further emphasising its impressive performance capabilities.

Interestingly, the McLaren F1 GTR Longtail, one of the limited models of the McLaren F1 GTR, is another highly sought-after model. Only 10 units of this model were built, and one of them was recently sold at the Gooding & Co auction in Scottsdale for $5.28 million.

The last unsold McLaren F1 was also sold in North America, albeit with a significant discount. If the last unsold F1 is still in existence, it would be worth over Β£10 million.

The new McLaren F1 Service Centre in the USA is operated by William T. Abraham, MD, and it isn't just limited to servicing the McLaren F1. The centre can also service and restore other heritage McLarens like the SLR and P1.

With the new service centre, F1 servicing becomes quicker, easier, and (a bit) cheaper for McLaren enthusiasts in North America. The centre's opening also signals an exciting time for McLaren aficionados, as the next Ultimate Series car, the McLaren W1, is set to be unveiled on October 6, 2024. The W1 is the successor to the McLaren F1 and P1, promising to continue the legacy of these iconic supercars.
