Meat with a total weight of approximately 32,000 pounds has been withdrawn from markets due to a lack of inspection.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced a Class I recall, the most urgent, for approximately 32,000 pounds of various meat products produced by Sabrositos Hondurenos, LLC. The recall is due to the products lacking federal inspection and bearing false USDA marks of inspection.
The affected meat products, including homestyle chorizo, smoked pork chops, smoked chorizo, cased homestyle chorizo, smoked BBQ spicy chorizo, and smoked ribs, were found in stores carrying packages with counterfeit USDA inspection seals. However, specific store or restaurant names in the USA where these products were delivered have not been disclosed in the available information.
FSIS investigators discovered various meat products in commerce bearing false marks of federal inspection during routine surveillance activities. The recalled products were shipped to retail locations and restaurants nationwide.
Consumption of these products may contain undeclared allergens, harmful bacteria, or other contaminants, posing a risk to consumer health and safety. No confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products have been reported, but anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.
The recalled products bear the false establishment number "EST. 1785," which does not exist. Any product bearing this number should be considered misbranded and unsafe to eat. FSIS will update recall information as needed and post distribution lists on its website.
FSIS is concerned that some products may still be in consumer and restaurant refrigerators or freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them and should throw them away. Restaurants are also urged not to serve these products and should return them to the place of purchase.
Furthermore, FSIS may update the product list and labels with additional items as more information becomes available. FSIS will continue to update recall information and post distribution lists on its website. No confirmed illnesses have been reported due to the consumption of these products.
The recall includes meat products produced prior to August 20, 2025. Sabrositos Hondurenos, LLC, is based in Edison, New Jersey. For more information about the recall, consumers and media can contact the FSIS Consumer Complaint Monitoring Branch at 1-800-233-3935.
