Giorgio Armani Laid to Rest in Rivalta, Near His Birthplace

Giorgio Armani, the renowned Italian fashion designer, was laid to rest on Wednesday in the small 14th-century church of San Martino in Rivalta, according to Corriere della Sera. The funeral ceremony took place in the same church where the ceremony was held on Monday.

Armani's funeral was a private affair, in accordance with his wishes, with around sixty people in attendance. His nephew Andrea Camerana and Pantaleo Dell'Orco, his right-hand man and companion, were among those present.

The funeral followed a public viewing over the weekend at the Armani Teatro in Milan, where approximately 15,000 people paid their last respects to the fashion legend.

The area for the funeral in Rivalta was cordoned off for security reasons and to ensure privacy. The mayor of Piacenza, Katia Tarasconi, also declared a day of mourning in Piacenza on Monday, where Armani spent part of his childhood.

Armani's final resting place will be beside his parents and brother in the cemetery of Rivalta, where the family chapel is located. The Giorgio Armani group closed its stores on Monday as a sign of mourning.

The hearse passed by with some onlookers, some of whom held white roses, which were also placed on Armani's coffin during the funeral.

Armani, who passed away on Thursday at the age of 91, was the head of a luxury empire worth several billion euros. The mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, also declared a day of mourning in Milan on Monday.

Armani's funeral marked the end of an era in the fashion world, with his legacy leaving an indelible mark on the industry. His family chapel in Rivalta will now serve as a permanent memorial to a man who was a true visionary and a global icon.
