New York City Woman Founds Mentorship Organisation for Women of Colour in Advertising

Shaunah Margaret, a woman of colour who moved to New York City eight years ago for an internship in advertising, has recently founded an organisation called Black Girl Advertising. The aim of this organisation is to provide mentorship for women of colour in the advertising industry.

Initially, Shaunah felt alone in the unfamiliar and white male-dominated corporate world of advertising. However, after a few years of acclimating to her surroundings and her career, she identified herself as one of the people she wanted to help.

Shaunah's experiences in the corporate world were challenging, but she was determined to use them to help others with similar experiences. After some time, she was ready to give back to her community.

Community was a crucial aspect of Shaunah's giving back plan. She wanted to focus on women of colour, as she herself identified as one of them. Shaunah's method of giving back was through mentorship, offering guidance and support to those who may have felt as isolated as she once did.

At the time, Shaunah had no family or friends nearby. However, she found solace and support in the community she created through Black Girl Advertising. The organisation has already made a significant impact, providing a safe space for women of colour to share their experiences and learn from one another.

Today, Shaunah continues to lead Black Girl Advertising, striving to create a more inclusive and diverse advertising industry. Her story serves as an inspiration to many, demonstrating that even in the face of adversity, it is possible to rise above and make a positive impact on the world.
