Mercedes-AMG unveils enhanced GT model, boasting increased power and a clear emphasis on racing capabilities.
The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ Coupe has made its debut in the UK, marking the only AMG GT model available in the country. This high-performance vehicle is the latest offering from Mercedes-AMG, a subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz AG responsible for high-performance vehicles.
The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ comes with a host of performance-oriented features. These include a new front bumper, a fixed rear wing, standard AMG ceramic brakes, and 21′′ matt grey forged alloys with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R rubber as standard. This more track-focused setup sets it apart from the regular GT 63.
Under the hood, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ is equipped with a 4.0-litre V8 engine that produces an impressive 603bhp and 627lb/ft of torque. This powerhouse propels the vehicle from 0-62mph in a rapid 3.2 seconds, with the 0-124mph dropping by 0.5s to 10.9 seconds.
The exterior of the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ boasts a carbon fibre pack, adding to its sleek and aerodynamic design. Inside, the cabin features Nappa leather and microfibre, AMG Performance seats, and a steering wheel, providing a luxurious and sporty driving experience.
While UK prices for the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ have yet to be announced, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E-Performance, the brand's first plug-in hybrid model, is priced at £190k. The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E-Performance is a new take on the AMG GT Four-Door.
In addition, a limited run of the GT 63, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ Motorsport Collectors Edition, has been announced. Details about its performance enhancements and cosmetic changes are yet to be revealed.
The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ is now available for purchase, with a starting price of £164,765. Despite Mercedes' decade-long effort to challenge the Porsche 911 with its AMG GT Coupe, the impact on Porsche sales has been minimal. However, the new Mercedes-AMG GT 63 Pro 4Matic+ promises to continue the brand's pursuit of performance excellence.
