Miami Hurricanes Secure Comeback Victory Against Notre Dame

In a thrilling season opener, the Miami Hurricanes emerged victorious against Notre Dame, marking their first win against a top-10 team since 2017. The game was a nail-biter, with Miami leading 21-7 in the fourth quarter, only to see Notre Dame score a touchdown and a field goal, making it a 7-point game.

Carson Beck, the rookie quarterback for the Hurricanes, started the era of Miami football against Notre Dame. In his debut, Beck showcased his prowess, completing 20 of his 31 passes for 205 yards and two touchdowns. The highlight of his performance was a record 15 consecutive completions to start the game.

Carson Beck's confidence was evident as he told his teammates that they would score when they got the ball back. His words proved prophetic, as Miami responded with a score, securing the win.

The turning point in the game came when a pass interference call on Notre Dame advanced Miami past midfield. From there, CharMar Brown picked up the first first down of the drive, and Brown carried the ball on five consecutive plays, picking up 18 yards. Carson Beck found CJ Daniels for a 9-yard completion, setting up the winning score.

CJ Carr, another first-time starting quarterback for Miami, also made an impact, connecting with Eli Raridon for a 65-yard completion and scoring a touchdown. This score tied the game at 24, setting the stage for Miami's comeback.

Miami's defense closed out the game with Akheem Mesidor involved in back-to-back sacks, ensuring that Notre Dame would not mount a comeback. The final nail in the coffin was Carter Davis' 47-yard game-winning field goal.

Looking ahead, Miami's next games are against Bethune-Cookman, USF, Florida, and Florida State, all at home. The Hurricanes will then travel to face Florida State in the ACC opener on Oct. 4. With their impressive performance against Notre Dame, expectations are high for the Hurricanes as they continue their season.
