Milan's Victory Over Lecce Rests on Modric's Wise Guidance to Boost Team Morale
Luka Modric Settles into AC Milan as Serie A Adjustment Continues
In an interview with DAZN, Luka Modric, the new signing at AC Milan, opened up about his experiences so far in the Italian top flight. The Croatian midfielder, who joined the Rossoneri after a 13-year stint with Real Madrid, acknowledged the challenges of the Serie A, stating that it requires high levels of focus and effort in every match.
Modric's debut season with Milan began with a 2-0 win against Lecce, a game in which he provided an assist. The victory was also Massimiliano Allegri's first league win of the 2025-26 Serie A season. Ruben Loftus-Cheek scored the opening goal, with Christian Pulisic adding another late in the game.
Modric admitted that he is still adapting to the Italian top flight, but he is enjoying his experience so far. He mentioned the presence of many Croatian players in the Serie A, which he finds comforting. The midfielder also highlighted the tactical organization of Italian teams in every phase, a trait that he finds impressive.
In addition to his role on the pitch, Modric also mentioned that he is required to communicate extensively due to the presence of young players. He stated that he is working to help the team move with more fluidity.
Milan's defensive performance in the game against Lecce was noteworthy. The team kept a clean sheet in two of their last three Serie A games, a feat they had not achieved in their previous 13 games. This solid defensive display bodes well for the team's future performances.
Modric, who became the oldest midfielder to provide an assist in Serie A since Opta began recording such data in 2004-05, expressed his admiration for Milan, having watched Italian football for a long time. He also stated his intention to reach full fitness after the international break.
As Modric continues to settle into his new surroundings, Milan fans can look forward to seeing more of the veteran midfielder's influence on the team. His experience and leadership will undoubtedly be invaluable as the team aims to challenge for honours in the 2025-26 Serie A season.
