Multinational Naval Exercise Quadriga 2025 to Take Place in the Baltic Sea

The multinational naval exercise Quadriga 2025 is set to take place in the Baltic Sea from September 1 to 12, 2025. This exercise series, which includes a sub-exercise called Northern Coasts, is an annual event initiated by the German Navy.

Northern Coasts, a key part of Quadriga 2025, focuses on realistic threat scenarios from all dimensions: air, land, sea, and cyber. The main goal of Northern Coasts is to further develop capabilities for territorial and alliance defense and demonstrate presence in the sea area.

The multinational naval task force consists of approximately 8,400 soldiers and around 40 units from 14 nations. Participating nations include Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and Finland, as well as Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, France, the United Kingdom, the USA, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Canada.

Rear Admiral Stephan Haisch leads the international naval task force as Commander Task Force Baltic during Northern Coasts. The German Navy participates in Northern Coasts with surface and underwater units, naval aviation, and marine security forces.

The participating naval units will gather at the naval base in Kiel at the start of the exercise, where they will prepare for the upcoming exercise. On September 1, the naval units will set sail from Kiel and begin the exercise in the Baltic Sea.

Due to the high volume of maritime traffic in the Kiel Bay, recreational boaters are asked to navigate with caution and maintain a safe distance. Exercise signals and radio communication are recommended for those navigating in the Kiel Bay during Northern Coasts.
