Military forces of Israel launch offensive against Houthi strongholds in Yemen
The ongoing war in the Middle East, which began following the Hamas massacre on October 7, 2023, shows no signs of abating. The international community has yet to intervene in a significant way to resolve the conflict, leaving the region in a state of continued turmoil.
Reports of a ceasefire have been absent, and the situation has led to widespread destruction and loss of life. Israel has been particularly active in the Gaza Strip, refusing the import of aid supplies for months. This has led to hostages protesting outside the homes of Israeli ministers, appealing for humanitarian aid.
Israel's refusal to allow aid supplies into the Gaza Strip continues, despite the dire situation on the ground. Israeli troops are visible in the city of Gaza, and the offensive by Israel, which started on the night of May 16-17, 2025, shows no signs of letting up.
The conflict has not been confined to the Gaza Strip, however. Israel has extended its offensive to Yemen, launching air strikes on Sanaa. These attacks targeted alleged Houthi militia positions in response to recent rocket and drone attacks launched by the Houthi forces against Israel.
The situation in Yemen has been further escalated by Israel's involvement in the conflict. Between May 16 and May 17, 2025, the Israeli Air Force conducted airstrikes against targets in the Yemeni capital, Sanaa.
