Military Leader Insists on Unconditional Disarmament of PKK and Its Affiliates

In a series of statements, Turkey's Defense Minister Yasar Guler has highlighted the strategic importance of the province of Sirnak, aiming to make it the country's strongest energy base. The region, known for its vast mountains, fertile plains, historical depth, and cultural richness, spanning from Cudi to Gabar, is endowed with oil, minerals, geothermal, solar, and wind energy resources.

According to Guler, the transformation of Sirnak from a region plagued by terrorism to a hub of development is crucial. He emphasised that the success of this process will strengthen the climate of security, peace, and tranquility, not only within Sirnak but also regionally.

The defense minister has been vocal about the elimination of terrorism and threats in Sirnak. He demanded an unconditional surrender from all PKK-linked terrorist groups and called for an immediate end to all terrorist activities by PKK and affiliated groups. The Makhmur camp of the PKK terrorist group in Iraq, it was reported, is being dismantled.

The progress in oil production in Sirnak is substantial. The region is currently producing over 80,000 barrels of oil per day in Gabar and Kato. This, along with Sirnak's unique position, has made it a key to cultural interaction, new investment opportunities, economic development, and border trade. Sirnak's Habur Border Gate, one of the country's most important trade gates opening to the Middle East, hosts the entry and exit of thousands of tons of cargo and hundreds of vehicles every day.

The environment of peace and trust has been re-established in Sirnak, Guler stated. This has been possible due to the re-establishment of political negotiations and security guarantees, with the leader of the PKK agreement in Sirnak remaining unspecified. The success of the process, according to Guler, is critical for regional development.

Turkiye, as a commitment, is dedicated to the 'disarmament of all PKK structures', as stated by the AK Party spokesperson. The Turkish government has also confirmed the PKK's direct control of YPG. The columnist, however, reported that the Makhmur camp of the PKK terrorist group in Iraq is being dismantled.

In conclusion, the transformation of Sirnak is not just about developing the province but also about strengthening the country's security, fostering regional development, and creating a hub for cultural interaction, investment, and economic growth.
