Minor League Deal Inked with Ex-Athletics Infielder Luis UriAS by Brewers
In a move that could bolster their roster for the upcoming season, the Milwaukee Brewers have announced the signing of infielder Luis Urías on Sunday. The 28-year-old will join the Brewers' Triple-A affiliate, Nashville, after spending part of the 2023 season with the Oakland Athletics.
Urías, who hails from Tijuana, Mexico, had a successful stint with the Brewers in 2021, where he recorded 75 RBIs and had 23 homers, marking his best major league season to date. He also played for the Brewers from 2020-23.
However, his 2023 season with the Athletics was less productive, with a batting average of .230 in 96 games. Despite this, Urías maintained a respectable .315 on-base percentage and contributed 2 steals. He also managed to hit 8 homers and drive in 25 RBIs for the Athletics this season.
The Athletics designated Urías for assignment and later released him, paving the way for his return to the Brewers. Urías played for the Athletics before signing with the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Brewers will be hoping that Urías can recapture the form he showed in 2021, which could prove to be a valuable addition to their roster. With the signing, the Brewers continue to strengthen their team as they prepare for the upcoming season.
