"Mission in Education Taking Up the Newcomer in FDP"
In the heart of Bergisch Gladbach, a new force is making waves in the political landscape. Olivia Meik, a 40-year-old resident of Gronau, has taken the helm as the chairperson of the local branch of the Free Democratic Party (FDP).
Born and raised in a different city, Olivia moved to Bergisch Gladbach 14 years ago, and her passion for the city's green spaces and livability led her to take an active role in its politics.
Her journey into politics began in the summer of 2024, when Olivia joined the FDP, driven by her profound belief in the importance of education and her mission to contribute to it.
Prior to her political career, Olivia worked tirelessly in the retail and hospitality industry, seven days a week, to finance her education. Her determination paid off when she obtained a Fachabitur, and she went on to study media economics at a private university of applied sciences.
In the realm of education, Olivia is no stranger. She is an active member of the Schulbau society and has also played a significant role in setting up the marketing department at the Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences. Currently, she works as an assistant to the management of the Schulbau GmbH.
As the chairperson of the FDP local branch, Olivia is responsible for the party's campaign for the upcoming municipal election. She hopes for a strong FDP representation in the city council of Bergisch Gladbach, aiming to bring about positive changes in the city's streets, appearance, and many other aspects.
Digitalization is another priority on Olivia's personal agenda. She envisions simplifying and speeding up various processes through digital means. This vision is already being brought to life with the development of a chatbot for the municipal election, utilising artificial intelligence to compare user preferences with party stances.
Olivia's political engagement is part of a series introducing people who have recently started their political journey and joined a party before the local election on September 14. Her love for Bergisch Gladbach, coupled with her determination and experience, makes her a compelling figure in the city's political scene.
In recent months, Olivia has found herself more active than ever before, joining multiple WhatsApp groups in her capacity as the FDP chairperson. Despite the challenges, she remains committed to her mission and looks forward to the future of Bergisch Gladbach.
