MobileSpeed Surveillance Sites Identified
In the charming city of Bergisch Gladbach, traffic safety is a top priority. The local authorities have announced a series of speed checks across various districts throughout August, in line with a new regulation that stresses the importance of transparency and more controls for bringing about positive behavioural changes.
Starting from this Saturday, 23rd August, speed checks will be conducted on Mutzer Straße and In der Schlade. The following week, on Wednesday, 27th August, Reuterstraße, Ferrenbergstraße, and Lerbacher Weg will be under scrutiny. The schedule continues with checks on Reuterstraße, Dellbrücker Straße, and Im Hilgersfeld on Friday, 22nd August, and Lückerather Weg and Schützheider Weg on Saturday, 30th August.
The new regulation also requires the announcement and publication of communal measurement points for speed monitoring. Whilst the exact measurement times are not obliged to be published daily, the locations will be made available on a regular basis. The city of Bergisch Gladbach publishes these planned measurement points on its municipal internet pages on a weekly basis.
Mobile speed checks are also planned in various parts of the city. It is worth noting that the police authority carries out its own checks, with further information available on their internet pages.
The local police department of Bergisch Gladbach is responsible for independent traffic speed checks that are not published on the city's official internet site. The administrative regulation on § 48 Abs. 2 of the Ordnungsbehördengesetz (OBG) was changed by the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government of North Rhine-Westphalia effective from 15th July 2013.
This new regulation emphasizes the effectiveness of these measures, as scientific investigations have shown. The local authorities believe that these checks will contribute significantly to ensuring traffic safety as per the available material and personnel resources. However, deviations due to unforeseeable current traffic situations are possible during the speed checks.
Speed checks are scheduled on Borngasse, Klutstein, and Herweg on Monday, 25th August, Nußbaumer Straße, Dolmanstraße, and Am Rübezahlwald on Thursday, 28th August, Schmidt-Blegge-Straße, Hufer Weg, and Ball on Tuesday, 26th August, and Kippekausen, Ommerbornstraße, and Asselborner Weg on Friday, 29th August.
The new regulation also places particular importance on the announcement of controls and the publication of measurement points, aiming to promote a culture of safety and responsibility on Bergisch Gladbach's roads.
