Morgan Supersport car reveal scheduled for March 11, spearheaded by Richard Hammond
Morgan Motors, the renowned British sports car manufacturer, is set to unveil its new flagship model, the Supersport, on March 11. The announcement comes after the successful launch of the Plus Four, which suggests that the Supersport will also be available in the U.S.
The Supersport is the successor to the Plus Six, which ended production last year, and Morgan has developed an updated version of its CX-Generation platform, known as the CXV, to underpin the new model. The prototype of the Supersport, which was unveiled in January, features a removable hard-top roof, similar to the Plus Six, and is currently undergoing testing on public roads.
The design of the Supersport shows a clear evolution of Morgan's signature design, with a more minimalist and curvier look. The Supersport is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 engine sourced from BMW, which delivers 335 hp in the Plus Six.
The debut of the Supersport will take place at Morgan's headquarters in Malvern, U.K., but it is unclear whether the event will be attended by anyone other than former "Top Gear" host Richard Hammond, an avid Morgan fan. Hammond has confirmed that he will be present at the presentation of the Supersport.
It is also unclear whether the Supersport will be offered to customers in the U.S., but the launch of the Plus Four in the U.S. suggests that this may be a possibility. The updates made to the CXV platform for the Supersport have not been revealed, but it is expected that they will be significant given the new model's status as Morgan's flagship vehicle.
The Supersport is set to debut on March 11, and sports car enthusiasts around the world are eagerly awaiting more details about this exciting new model. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
