Motorcycle rider perishes in crash with a bus at Bangkok's Asok-Sukhumvit intersection

A tragic incident took place on Monday morning near the Asok-Sukhumvit intersection in Bangkok. According to reports by traffic news service JS100, the accident occurred at 7.59am on Asok Montri Road, in front of an office building on Sukhumvit 21.

The accident involved a motorcycle and a bus. The collision resulted in the motorcyclist being crushed beneath the bus. Despite the efforts of traffic police and rescue workers, who were quickly deployed to manage the flow of vehicles, clear the wreckage from the road, and investigate the cause of the accident, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been released. The driver of the bus involved in the fatal accident has not been publicly named but is scheduled to be interviewed as part of the accident investigation.

The accident caused major traffic congestion in the area, with severe delays stretching from the Asok junction back towards the Rama 9 intersection. The bus attempted to move across from the left lane into the same lane as the motorcycle.

Officers from Thong Lor Police Station have taken charge of the case, and authorities will question the bus driver and eyewitnesses as part of the ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash. The deceased's body has been transferred to a hospital for post-mortem examination.
