Mourning the Loss of Brigitte Gans

In 1984, Brigitte Gans began her political journey with the CSU, a journey that would span three decades and leave an indelible mark on the city of Aschaffenburg.

That same year, she joined the Women's Union and worked in the local branch of Aschaffenburg-Nilkheim. Her dedication and commitment were evident from the start, as she quickly rose to become the chairwoman of the Eduard-Aigner foundation in youth work.

In 1985, Brigitte Gans' compassion extended beyond politics, as she began caring for people with mental and physical disabilities. This selfless act was a testament to her empathetic nature and her commitment to serving her community.

Brigitte Gans' political career reached new heights in 1991, when she was sworn in as the successor of the late Dr. Werner Bokr. Over the years, she focused on urban planning, traffic, city halls, and works council, demonstrating her versatility and dedication to improving the city.

Mayor JΓΌrgen Herzing spoke highly of Brigitte Gans, stating that she possessed great expertise and enjoyed high esteem both across party lines and within the administration. This respect was echoed by her fellow city council members, who remembered her as a woman of sound judgment.

From May 1, 1996, until her death on August 5th, 2023, Brigitte Gans served as the business manager of the CSU city council fraction. During this time, she was also a member or deputy in all committees of the city council.

Brigitte Gans' political involvement extended beyond the city council. She served as a church warden in the St. Jakobus parish in Nilkheim and was a member of the adult education committee and the supervisory board of the city building authority.

In the city council, Brigitte Gans opposed the "gendered task allocation." Her commitment to impartiality and her strive for an independent, open politics earned her respect and admiration from her peers.

Brigitte Gans was also deeply committed to the city marketing association, actively recruiting new members to support the city's growth and development. Additionally, she served as a lay judge at the Aschaffenburg local court and the administrative court of WΓΌrzburg for 18 years.

In 2018, Brigitte Gans was awarded the Bavarian Minister-President's honorary badge for her voluntary commitment. This recognition was a fitting tribute to a woman who dedicated her life to serving her community.

Brigitte Gans' legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of those she served, and her influence will continue to be felt in the city of Aschaffenburg for years to come.
