Mukesh Ambani Set for Meeting with U.S. President Trump Amid lingering issues in India-US trade relations, according to reports.

The trade relations between the United States and India are currently under scrutiny, with a 50% tariff imposed by the US as a penalty for New Delhi's purchase of oil from Russia. This follows President Trump's implementation of a 25% reciprocal tariff, also as a penalty for India's oil purchases from Russia.

The tariff impasse continues, with disagreements over lower tariffs on goods such as medical equipment, ICT products, and stents. Washington is demanding wider market access for American farm products, including dairy, pork, poultry, soybeans, and almonds.

Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani is scheduled to meet US President Donald Trump on September 12. The meeting, reported to potentially pave the way for a US-India trade agreement, comes amidst growing frictions between the two nations.

Business World reported that Ambani's long-standing relationships with both Republican and Democratic circles give him a strategic advantage in trade-related discussions. Observers have pointed to the high-profile Ambani family wedding, attended by several US policymakers, as a reflection of Ambani's extensive political and business clout.

However, it is important to note that Ivanka Trump does not play a role in the negotiations of a potential trade agreement between the United States and India. There are no available sources indicating her involvement in such negotiations.

Meanwhile, relations with China are "returning to normal" as border tensions ease, according to Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal. Asim Munir is meeting with Xi Jinping for wide-ranging talks and will attend a Chinese army parade.

On a positive note, trade negotiations with the European Union are progressing, according to Piyush Goyal. India has already finalised trade agreements with Mauritius, Australia, EFTA, the UK, and the UAE, as reported by Reuters.

As the US-India trade talks continue, the focus remains on finding a resolution to the tariff impasse and reaching a mutually beneficial agreement. The meeting between Ambani and Trump promises to be a significant step in this direction.
