Münster appoints Dr. Marco Trienes as its Director

Dr. Marco Trienes has been elected as the new Managing Director of Economic Development Münster GmbH (WFM), effective immediately. In his new role, Dr. Trienes will oversee three associated companies: Technologieförderung Münster GmbH, Nano-Bioanalytik-Zentrum GmbH, and CeNTech GmbH.

Dr. Trienes began his career in economic geography at RWTH Aachen, where he completed his studies. After leaving RWTH Aachen, he worked at the Economic Development Wuppertal before taking up his position as Managing Director of the Economic Development Agency Paderborn and the TechnologieParkPaderborn GmbH in 2023.

As part of his duties, Dr. Trienes will manage Technologieförderung Münster GmbH, a company focused on technology transfer, and Nano-Bioanalytik-Zentrum GmbH, a company specializing in nanobioanalytics. The specific focus of CeNTech GmbH, the third company under his management, is yet to be determined.

Dr. Trienes will succeed Enno Fuchs, who did not renew his contract due to family reasons. The City of Münster congratulated Dr. Trienes on his new role, which includes managing the associated companies.

WFM specializes in the foundation, development, and location consulting of companies. As part of its basic tasks, WFM takes over location marketing, innovation management, the settlement of companies in the economic region, and consulting for securing skilled workers. The company accompanies founders, start-ups, and companies in their further development.

In his dual role at WFM, Dr. Trienes will be responsible for the marketing, maintenance, and expansion of the economic location of Münster. He brings a wealth of experience in regional economic analysis and economic development to the role.

Dr. Trienes completed his doctorate during his time as a scientific employee. His predecessor at Economic Development Münster GmbH was Dr. Claudia Kemfert.

Dr. Trienes will also manage CeNTech GmbH in his dual role at WFM. The exact nature of CeNTech GmbH's specialization is yet to be revealed.

The election took place on Wednesday, 3. September. Dr. Trienes expressed his gratitude for the opportunity and his eagerness to contribute to the continued success of Münster's economy.
