Konstantin Wecker, the renowned German musician, has revealed that his long-term consumption of nerve poison alcohol has led to a condition that has left him unable to play the piano. The 78-year-old artist, best known for his anti-Nazi song "Willy," shared this news in an interview with the Süddeutsche Zeitung (weekend edition).

Wecker's hand condition has significantly affected his ability to play the piano both privately and professionally. He can currently only play very simple melodies, similar to a small child or a beginner. The problems worsened over time, becoming a creeping process that he initially dismissed as temporary.

Sitting at the piano was a form of meditation for Wecker, who used to play for extended periods without practice. However, the repeated breakdowns in his left hand, which was particularly affected, have made it impossible for him to perform "Willy" on stage or let anyone else play the piano for the song.

In his new book "Der Liebe zuliebe," set to be released on Monday, 1st September, Wecker reflects on his years of alcohol consumption. The publisher of the book is bene! Verlag / Droemer Knaur.

This is not the first time Wecker has been in the headlines for his substance abuse. In the past, he was also associated with cocaine consumption. However, after two detoxification courses, Wecker is now a dry alcoholic.

Wecker finds it particularly distressing that he can no longer play the piano privately. The nickname "The Willy," a reference to his piano playing skills, is no longer applicable to him. Despite this setback, Wecker remains hopeful and continues to share his music and experiences with his fans.
