New CEO Appointed at Zurich-Based Impact Investor responsAbility

Nadia Nikolova has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of responsAbility Investments AG, a leading impact investor specializing in sustainable finance. She will assume the CEO role effective September 1, 2025, pending regulatory approval.

Before joining responsAbility, Nikolova was Head of Direct Lending at Allianz Global Investors, where she managed private credit teams across Europe and Asia with over €11 billion in assets under management. She founded Allianz’s sustainable and impact credit investment team in 2019, successfully scaling their blended finance strategy and raising over €4.5 billion across two flagship funds focused on impact private credit, particularly for small-cap impact companies in Europe.

At responsAbility, Nikolova will succeed Rochus Mommartz, who is retiring after leading the company since its founding in 2003 and notably doubling its assets under management. Nikolova’s role will focus on driving growth in responsAbility’s sustainable finance and private credit strategies, leveraging her expertise in impact investing and blended finance to further scale the firm’s influence in financial inclusion, climate finance, and sustainable food sectors. She will report to Emmanuel Deblanc, Chair of responsAbility and CIO of M&G’s private markets business.

Meanwhile, LeapFrog Investments, another Zurich-based impact investor, has appointed Swati Mehta as the director for healthcare. Mehta brings close to two decades of healthcare investment banking experience, having worked at o3 Capital, IDFC Group, Equirus Capital, UBS Securities, and more. With her appointment, LeapFrog has grown its India-based team to ten-strong. Mehta will work closely with Michael Jelinske and the wider team to support the expansion of LeapFrog's healthcare strategy.

LeapFrog sees India as a "key engine for innovation and opportunity" in emerging markets across healthcare, financial services, and climate solutions. Mehta's strategic insight and commitment have been praised by Biju Mohandas, global head of healthcare at LeapFrog Investments, who expressed his delight at her joining.

In other news, Joe Keen Poon has been appointed as the executive chairman of Indonesian and Swiss-based agritech firm KOLTIVA. KOLTIVA works with over 1.9 million agriculture producers across 65 countries.

responsAbility, which was acquired by the UK group M&G in 2022, focuses on three major investment themes - financial inclusion, climate finance, and sustainable food. The firm currently has assets under management of approximately €5.6bn. LeapFrog Investments, on the other hand, focuses on impact investing in growth markets, particularly in healthcare, financial services, and climate solutions.
