Nancy Mace Aborts Speech Due to Lack of Attendees
In the ongoing race for the South Carolina GOP gubernatorial nomination, Representative Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) appears to be gaining momentum. According to internal polls shared by her campaign, Mace currently leads the field.
Prior to announcing her candidacy, Mace was polling at 16%, slightly ahead of South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, as reported by polling conducted before her announcement. This figure was later shared on former President Donald Trump's Truth Social platform.
Mace's campaign's poll numbers suggest a double-digit lead in various areas, particularly among supporters of the president. The campaign's confidence was further bolstered by the success of Mace's "Mother of All Town Halls" tour, which saw a packed audience at the Veterans Café and Grill in Myrtle Beach.
However, a recent development saw the cancellation of Mace's speech in South Carolina, just weeks after the start of her tour. Reports suggest that low attendance may have contributed to the cancellation.
The event was expected to be a "parental rights" rally, hosted by the Horry County chapter of the far-right, anti-trans Moms for Liberty group. Sources close to Mace's campaign claim that she personally shared the poll results with Trump officials prior to their public release.
Mace's focus on transgender issues has been a significant part of her platform. She has been vocal about her stance on trans women using the women's bathroom.
Despite the cancellation, Mace's campaign remains optimistic, citing the strong support they have seen on the campaign trail. As the primary race heats up, it will be interesting to see how Mace's lead evolves and whether she can maintain her momentum.
