Economy Award 2026: Seeking Pioneering Firms for Recognition - Nation seeks forward-thinking businesses for the 2026 Economic Award
Saxony-Anhalt, a region known for its entrepreneurial spirit and innovative drive, has announced that applications for its 2026 Wirtschaftspreis Sachsen-Anhalt (Business Award) are now open. This is the fourth iteration of the award, with the first being presented in 2019.
The Investitions- und Marketing-Corporation Sachsen-Anhalt, along with the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWi), is facilitating the award process. Eligible companies are small and medium-sized businesses with up to 250 employees from Saxony-Anhalt, who have shown above-average development in recent years, introduced special innovations, contributed to securing and developing skilled workers, or have strong regional cooperation.
To be considered, companies must have been founded within the last five years. The award seeks to honour entrepreneurial commitment and showcase the potential and readiness to innovate within Saxony-Anhalt. Companies that meet these criteria will be evaluated based on innovation, entrepreneurship, and impact on the region.
The winners of the 2026 award will receive prize money of €15,000 for companies and €10,000 for startups. The application deadline for the 2026 award was in 2024. In the previous year, 115 companies applied for the award.
The award ceremony for the 2026 state business award in Saxony-Anhalt will be held every two years. The ceremony for the 2023 award took place in March 2023, with Economics Minister Sven Schulze (CDU) stating that the award is to honour entrepreneurial commitment. The award also aims to showcase the potential and readiness to innovate within Saxony-Anhalt and honour innovative companies and bold entrepreneurs.
The companies must have an innovative focus to be eligible for the award. This is the third time the award is being given out, and it continues to attract a significant number of applications, reflecting the vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem in Saxony-Anhalt.
