Naval display of strength showcased in Istanbul by Turkish forces, demonstrating their dominance in the region under the banner of 'Blue Homeland'.

Naval Parade Marks Victory Day in Istanbul

On Sunday, the 30th of August, Istanbul will witness a grand naval parade titled "Blue Homeland". This event is significant as it coincides with Victory Day, one of Türkiye's most significant national holidays.

The parade will commence at the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge and conclude at Dolmabahçe Palace, passing through various districts such as Sariyer, Tarabya, Emirgan, Kanlica, Rumeli Hisarı, Kandilli, Bebek, and Ortakoy.

The Turkish Naval Forces Commander will serve as the commander or supreme commander of the participating ships. Among the ships taking part in the parade are TCG Anadolu, TCG Savarona, and TCG Hızırreis submarine.

Victory Day commemorates the Battle of Dumlupınar, a testament to the resilience and determination of the Turkish nation to preserve its sovereignty and independence. The Battle of Dumlupınar in 1922 marked the culmination of the Turkish War of Independence, resulting in the expulsion of occupying Greek forces. This victory led to the establishment of the Republic of Türkiye.

The first celebration of Victory Day was in 1926, and since then, it has been observed annually. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will salute the fleet at Dolmabahçe Palace during the parade.

In addition to the naval parade, the Teknofest Blue Homeland activities will extend over Aug. 30-31. The program includes naval ship model exhibitions, virtual reality experience zones, demonstrations by SAT and SAS commandos, boat races, and a ship design workshop. The parade will sail from 3.30 pm to 6.30 pm local time.

August 30 is historically associated with key Turkish victories, including the Battle of Manzikert in 1071 and the Battle of Çaldıran in 1514. This day is, therefore, a significant opportunity to reflect on Türkiye's rich history and the achievements of its people.
