Netflix introduces follow-up to Adam Sandler's cherished film, placing him once again in his contented abode, named Happy.

In the world of entertainment, few names are as recognisable as Adam Sandler. Known for his comedic roles in films like "Happy Gilmore" and "The Waterboy", Sandler is set to make a comeback this year with a sequel to his iconic golf-themed movie.

On July 25, 2023, "Happy Gilmore 2" will hit Netflix screens, and it promises to be a star-studded affair. Apart from the return of Happy Gilmore himself, the film features cameos from golfing greats like Jack Nicklaus, Rory McIlroy, and Scottie Scheffler, as well as celebrities such as Eminem, Margaret Qualley, and Benny Safdie. Lee Trevino, who was in the original, is also back for the sequel, but sadly, Carl Weathers, who played Chubbs Peterson in the first film, will not be returning due to his passing last year.

However, Sandler's career is not limited to comedy. In 2002, he took on a more serious role in "Punch-Drunk Love", directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. In this film, Sandler played the self-loathing Barry, a character far removed from his usual comedic roles. This performance was critically acclaimed, earning him recognition from Critics' Choice, Golden Globe, Independent Spirit, and SAG awards. The film scored an impressive 91% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Sandler's dramatic prowess was also on display in "The Meyerowitz Stories" (2017), an ensemble drama alongside Dustin Hoffman, Adam Driver, Emma Thompson, and Ben Stiller. His performance in "Uncut Gems" (2019) was highly praised, although he has yet to receive an Oscar nomination.

Sandler's next dramatic role will be in "Jay Kelly", a Netflix movie scheduled for release towards the end of the year. This film reunites Sandler with Noah Baumbach, who also directed "The Meyerowitz Stories". With an ensemble cast including George Clooney, Greta Gerwig, and Jim Broadbent, "Jay Kelly" is already tipped as an early Oscar contender.

It's worth noting that Sandler has had his fair share of less successful films. "Jack and Jill" (2011), in which Sandler starred, was the only film in cinema history to sweep the Razzies, with Sandler winning six trophies. He has been nominated for 25 Razzies, including Worst Actor for "Happy Gilmore".

Despite these setbacks, Sandler continues to push boundaries and take on new challenges. His return to the screen in "Happy Gilmore 2" and "Jay Kelly" promises to be an exciting chapter in his career. In "Happy Gilmore 2", Gilmore is forced out of retirement to pay for his daughter's ballet school, setting the stage for a series of hilarious and heartwarming events.

As we eagerly await these new releases, it's clear that Sandler's versatility and talent continue to shine, making him a beloved figure in the world of entertainment. Whether he's playing a lovable goofball or a complex, troubled character, Sandler's performances are always engaging and memorable.
