VinFast, the Vietnamese automobile manufacturer, has announced its entry into the Indian market with a range of electric SUVs. The company plans to establish its sales network by the end of 2025, with 35 dealerships and 26 service workshops across 27 cities, although specific cities have yet to be named.

As part of its entry strategy, VinFast has partnered with 13 dealer groups to set up 32 outlets across these cities in the first phase. The company will assemble both the VF6 and VF7 SUVs at its upcoming plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu.

The VinFast VF6 and VF7 SUVs

The VF6 and VF7 SUVs come with a host of features designed to cater to modern consumers. They boast acoustic windshields and 90-watt Type-C charging ports, ensuring a quiet, comfortable ride and easy charging on the go. The interiors feature vegan leather on the dashboard and metal inlays for a premium touch.

The SUVs also come equipped with 8-way power adjustable seats, a 12.9-inch infotainment screen, and modern connectivity options. For added convenience, they offer features like Pet Mode, Camp mode, and an intelligent virtual assistant.

The VF6 Trims

The VinFast VF6 will be offered in three trims: VF6 Earth, VF6 Wind, and VF6 Wind Infinity. The VF6 Earth is powered by a single motor with 174.3 bhp and 250 Nm, capable of a 468 km (ARAI) range. The VF6 Wind, on the other hand, delivers 201 bhp and 310 Nm of torque, offering a range of up to 468 km (ARAI) as well. The VF6 Wind Infinity, which includes an added edge-to-edge panoramic sunroof, has the same specifications as the VF6 Wind.

The VF7 Trims

The VF7 is aimed at a higher segment, competing with the Mahindra XEV 9e and BYD Atto 3. It comes in three trims: VF7 Earth, VF7 Wind, and VF7 Sky. The VF7 Earth and VF7 Wind are single-motor vehicles, with the former delivering 201 bhp and 310 Nm of torque, and the latter offering a slightly improved range of 532 km (ARAI).

The VF7 Sky, however, is a dual-motor AWD vehicle, boasting 348.6 bhp and 500 Nm of torque. It has a slightly shorter range of 510 km (ARAI) but can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 5.8 seconds.

VinFast's Commitment to Sustainability

In line with its commitment to sustainability, VinFast also plans to manufacture electric vehicles in India for export to the South Asian region. To strengthen its after-sales and charging infrastructure, the company has announced collaborations with RoadGrid, myTVS, and Global Assure.

VinFast is present in 16 countries and aims to expand its presence in the Indian market. As a testament to its confidence in the quality of its vehicles, the company is offering a 10-year or 2,00,000 km warranty on the VF7 and a 7-year or 2,00,000 km warranty on the VF6.

With its range of electric SUVs, VinFast is set to make a significant impact in the Indian automobile market, challenging established players and catering to the growing demand for sustainable, technologically advanced vehicles.
