New Management Takes Over at HTGF

The High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), a leading early-stage investor in Germany and Europe, is pleased to announce the addition of Sebastian Borek to its management team. Effective October 13, 2025, Borek will take on the role as Managing Director, responsible for the Digital Tech investment area.

Borek, a visionary entrepreneur with over 25 years of international experience in building digital business models, tech-driven startups, and venture capital structures, joins the HTGF team with a wealth of knowledge and expertise. He is a serial founder with successful ventures in New York and Europe, co-founder of the Founders Foundation, an angel investor, and holds a Bachelor from New York University and an MBA from the University of St. Gallen.

Borek's areas of focus include artificial intelligence, blockchain, and B2B SaaS, making him a key figure in the German B2B startup ecosystem. His addition to the HTGF team is expected to provide important impetus for the fund's continued success story.

Armgard Wippler, Chair of the HTGF Investor Advisory Board, expressed her positive sentiment about Borek's joining the team. Wippler, who is a Ministerial Director in the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, stated, "We are thrilled to have Sebastian on board. His extensive experience and expertise in digital technology will undoubtedly contribute to the growth and success of our portfolio companies."

The HTGF has been investing in various sectors since 2005, including deeptech, climatetech, digitaltech, industrialtech, life sciences, and chemistry. With the addition of Borek, the management team now consists of three members: Romy Schnelle, Achim Plum, and Sebastian Borek.

This restructured management team comes after the departure of Alex von Frankenberg, who has been with the HTGF for 20 years. The High-Tech Founders Fund, one of Europe's most active Seed investors, having financed over 780 companies and managing a fund volume of over two billion euros, looks forward to continued success under its new leadership.
