New Tesla Cybertruck purchaser reports issues: Left side features, including doors, windows, and lights, malfunctioned less than a day after purchase. Additional complaints include passenger side inoperability.
In an unexpected turn of events, Daniel Coppens, a new owner of Tesla's Cybertruck from Florida, has encountered some issues with his brand-new vehicle. Daniel purchased the Cybertruck with just five miles on the odometer and drove it two hours from the Tesla delivery center to his home. However, upon arriving, he found that his Cybertruck was not functioning as expected.
Daniel shared his story on the Cybertruck Owners Only group on Facebook, expressing his dissatisfaction with his ownership experience. The passenger side of his Cybertruck started working again, then stopped multiple times. Further investigation revealed that the windows wouldn't roll down, the passenger side doors wouldn't open, and the ambient light didn't turn on on the left side of the Cybertruck.
Upon noticing these issues, Daniel contacted Tesla service by phone and spent 30 minutes talking to a Tesla technician. Despite resetting the Cybertruck, the left side of the vehicle still did not work. Tesla scheduled a service appointment for Daniel's new Cybertruck more than a month in the future.
In the face of this predicament, many Cybertruck owners in the comments defended Tesla and the Cybertruck. Steve Hischar, a fellow Cybertruck owner, suggested that it's not unacceptable and that Tesla should fix the issue. Tony Bigley, another Cybertruck owner, suggested that Tesla provide a loaner vehicle or a Model X Plaid while Daniel's Cybertruck is being serviced.
It's important to note that this is not an isolated incident. Some Cybertruck owners have experienced similar failures with their vehicles. However, it's also worth mentioning that Tim Rich, another Cybertruck owner, stated that he has not experienced any issues with his Cybertruck since its purchase six months ago.
The Cybertruck, which started production delays and was released late in 2023, has faced significant sales difficulties in the first half of 2025.
