Newcastle United's forward, Alexander Isak, has reportedly been transferred to Liverpool in a new, unparalleled deal.
Liverpool Football Club has made a splash in the transfer market, signing Alexander Isak from Newcastle United for a British record fee of £130 million, as reported by David Ornstein of The Athletic. This marks the departure of the highly-rated striker from St. James' Park.
The Merseysiders have been tracking Isak all summer, and the deal, which was agreed months ago, finally came to fruition as the Swedish international underwent medical tests at Anfield. Liverpool have broken the British transfer record for the second time this summer, surpassing the £117m spent on Florian Wirtz, as per The Athletic.
Isak, who is worth €120m according to Transfermarkt, had expressed his desire to leave Newcastle United, going so far as to put out a statement on social media and even going on strike and training at Real Sociedad. Newcastle United, however, had found it challenging to find a suitable replacement for the talented striker, with moves for Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko, and Yoane Wissa facing obstacles.
Liverpool have not left Newcastle United empty-handed, though, as they have signed Nick Woltemade as a replacement for Isak at St. James' Park. The Reds have also bolstered their attacking options with the signing of Conrad Harder from Sporting Lisbon on deadline day of August 31, 2025. Harder, a Danish international forward, is known for his physical strength, speed, and dangerous left foot.
With Isak's arrival, Liverpool now sit at the top of the Premier League table after three matches, being the only club with a 100% record in the league after three games of Premier League action. Isak's addition to the squad will undoubtedly strengthen Liverpool's title challenge, as he is currently ranked at no.4 in the current list of the best strikers in the world.
Fabrizio Romano has given a 'here we go' confirmation for Isak's transfer to Liverpool on his former Twitter account, adding another exciting chapter to the Reds' transfer saga. Liverpool fans can look forward to seeing Isak in action as the new season unfolds.
