Newcomers granted citizenship at the Kreishaus: 46 individuals are now officially citizens
New Citizens Officially Welcome to Herford District
On Thursday, the Herford District held a naturalization ceremony, where a total of 46 people, including 25 women and 21 men, were officially welcomed as new German citizens. District Administrator Jürgen Müller presided over the ceremony, personally presenting the naturalization certificates to the new citizens.
The new citizens, hailing from 17 different countries, have been living in Germany and the Herford District for several years. The youngest person naturalized was 10 years old, while the oldest was 62.
District Administrator Jürgen Müller warmly welcomed the new citizens, stating that they now have the same rights as all German citizens, including freedom of opinion and religion, education, free choice of employment, voting rights, and visa-free travel to many countries. He reminded them of their responsibility to respect the laws and actively engage in society and democratic processes.
The ceremony was musically accompanied by Jens Kosmiky. The families, friends, and companions of the new citizens, as well as representatives from the administration and local politics, attended the event.
Jürgen Müller described naturalization as a symbolic, important, and personal moment. He emphasized that the new citizens also bear the responsibility to respect the laws and actively engage in society and democratic processes.
