In the heart of Anchorage, Alaska, a new addition to the city's skyline has caught the attention of residents and visitors alike. CYBER Express Wash, Alaska's first high-tech, hospitality-focused express carwash, officially opened its doors on June 17, 2025.

The grand opening ceremony was attended by Mayor Suzanne LaFrance, local dignitaries, and members of the community. The carwash building, located at the busy intersection of Lake Otis Parkway and Tudor Road, is the third-largest in the United States and the fifth-largest in the world.

The investment in CYBER Express Wash was made by Chugach Alaska Corporation in 2023. Paul Horstkoetter, co-founder and principal at CYBER Express Wash, is also vice president of development and construction at Contour, a California-based real estate developer. The investment will be managed by Chugach Investment Holdings.

CYBER Express Wash prides itself on its approach to sustainability. The facility recycles 70 percent of wash water, using 60 percent less water compared to washing a car at home. Advanced filtration allows the water to be reused for the property's landscaping. Soaps and other chemicals used by CYBER Express Wash are all dye-free and biodegradable.

The defunct Johnson's Tire location on Denali Street has been refurbished by CYBER Express Wash. The facility offers a three-minute tunnel wash and a ten-minute express detailing service. No appointments are needed for the services provided at CYBER Express Wash.

Horstkoetter, a native of Anchorage, was previously a project engineer for Alaska Interstate Construction on the North Slope and briefly an aide to the late former US Senator Ted Stevens. CYBER Express Wash compiled traffic counts to select sites with convenient access for customers.

As for future plans, CYBER Express Wash is planning to expand to other locations beyond the refurbished Johnson's Tire location. "Coming Soon" signs are posted on East Fifth Avenue, where Sixth Avenue converges, indicating potential new sites for the innovative carwash.

In a city known for its harsh winter conditions, CYBER Express Wash promises to provide a quick, efficient, and eco-friendly carwash solution for residents and visitors alike.
